The Joy of Reading Week at Hello Kids Flamingo Preschool was a thoughtfully curated celebration dedicated to nurturing a love for books, storytelling, and language development among young learners. The week-long initiative focused on making reading an enjoyable and meaningful experience for children across Playgroup, Nursery, Junior KG, and Senior KG.
Throughout the week, classrooms transformed into vibrant reading corners filled with colourful picture books, story charts, puppets, and interactive learning materials. Each day featured engaging activities such as storytelling sessions, role play, character dress-up, picture reading, rhyme recitation, and simple book discussions.
For Playgroup children, the emphasis was on listening skills, picture recognition, and developing interest in books through visual storytelling. Nursery students explored story sequencing and vocabulary building, while Junior and Senior KG children participated in guided reading sessions that strengthened comprehension, expression, and confidence.
Joy of Reading Week also encouraged children to bring their favourite storybooks from home, helping them build a personal connection with reading. Interactive activities promoted imagination, creativity, concentration, and social skills, while also supporting early literacy development.
